DESCRIPTION:Modern Fortran\n\nThis course provides an introduction to Moder
n Fortran\, which contains many powerful features that make it a suitable
language for programming scientific\, engineering and numerical applicatio
ns. Familiarity with a Unix or Linux environment is assumed. The course is
open to all\, but is mainly targeted at existing ARCHER users.\n\nDetails
\n\nFortran 90/95 is a modern and efficient general purpose programming la
nguage\, particularly suited to numeric and scientific computation. The la
nguage offers advanced array support\, and is complimented by a wealth of
numerical libraries. Many large scale computing facilities offer heavily o
ptimised Fortran compilers\, making Fortran suitable for the most demandin
 g computational tasks.\n\nTopics include: fundamentals\, program control\,
  input and output\, variables\, procedures\, modules\, arrays.\n\nIntended
learning outcomes\n\nOn completion of this course students should be able
to:\n\nUnderstand and develop modularised Fortran programs.\n	Compile and
run Fortran programs on ARCHER.\nPrerequisites\n\nThe are no prerequisite
s for this course\, although a familiarity with a Unix or Linux environmen
 t is assumed.\n\nTimetable\n\nDetails are subject to change\, but start\,
