DESCRIPTION:## Overview\nResearchers often have access or generate multiple
  omics data (RNAseq\, metabolomics\, lipidomics\, proteomics…) within a
single study. Although each omics data has been traditionally analysed in
isolation\, combining possibly complementary data can yield a better under
standing of the mechanisms involved in the biological processes. Several i
ntegrative approaches are now available to combine such data\, which can b
e regarded as extensions of the standard Principal Component Analysis (PCA
).\n\nIn this 2-day course\, we will provide an overview of omics data str
uctures\, and present different unsupervised and supervised statistical ap
proaches\, from simple PCA/PLS to more advanced multiomics dimension reduc
tion methods (Common Component and Specific Weights Analysis\, Consensus O
rthogonal Partial Least Squares). For each method\, we will cover both its
principles and practical aspects. \n\n\n## Audience\nThis course is addre
ssed to life scientists who have worked with at least one type of data.\n\
n## Learning outcomes\nAt the end of the course\, the participants are exp
ected to:\n* perform and interpret a PCA and build a PLS model on a single
data table\n* compute and interpret an unsupervised R MBAnalysis package
(CCSWA) and a supervised integrative model with the ConsensusOPLS R packag
 e \n\n# Prerequisites\n#### ***Knowledge / competencies***\nYou should mee
t the learning outcomes of \n[First Steps with R in Life Sciences](https:/
 /www.sib.swiss/training/course/20260309_FSWRR) and [Introduction to Statis
tics and Data Visualisation with R](https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/
20260126_STATR).\n\nEvaluate your R skills with the following [self-assess
 ment](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdIyeuabd_ZOWXgI1MWHapmaOMu
20L9ESkLDZiWnpmkpujyOg/viewform).\n \nYou should also have performed analy
ses with at least one type of data (RNAseq\, metabolomics…).\n\n#### ***
Technical***\nYou are required to bring your own laptop and have the follo
wing installed:\n* R and RStudio \n* R packages will be announced to the p
 articipants\n\n\n## Schedule\n\n**Day 1:** Introduction to dimensionality
reduction theory and exercises (PCA/PLS)\n\n**Day 2:** Introduction to mul
tiblock analyses\, focusing on an unsupervised model (Common Component and
Specific Weights Analysis) and a supervised model (Consensus Orthogonal P
artial Least Squares) \n\n## Application\n\n\n\nThe registration fees for
academics are **200 CHF** and **1000 CHF** for for-profit companies.\n\nWh
ile participants are registered on a first come\, first served basis\, exc
eptions may be made to ensure diversity and equity\, which may increase th
e time before your registration is confirmed.\n\nApplications will close a
s soon as the places will be filled up. Deadline for free-of-charge cancel
lation is set to *24/02/2026*. Cancellation after this date will not be re
imbursed. Please note that participation in SIB courses is subject to our
 [general conditions](https://www.sib.swiss/training/terms-and-conditions).
\n\nYou will be informed by email of your registration confirmation. Upon
reception of the confirmation email\, participants will be asked to confir
m attendance by paying the fees within 5 days.\n\n## Venue and Time\n\nUni
versity of Lausanne.\n\nThe course will start at 9:00 and end around 17:00
.\n\nPrecise information will be provided to the participants in due time.
 \n\n\n## Additional information\nCoordination: Grégoire Rossier\, SIB Tr
aining group.\n\nWe will recommend 0.5 ECTS credits for this course (given
a passed exam at the end of the course).\n\nYou are welcome to register t
o the SIB courses mailing list to be informed of all future courses and wo
rkshops\, as well as all important deadlines using the form [here](https:/
 /lists.sib.swiss/mailman/listinfo/courses).\n\nPlease note that participat
ion in SIB courses is subject to our [general conditions](https://www.sib.
swiss/training/terms-and-conditions).\n\nSIB abides by the [ELIXIR Code of
  Conduct](https://elixir-europe.org/events/code-of-conduct). Participants
of SIB courses are also required to abide by the same code.\n\nFor more in
