DESCRIPTION:**A certain number of places will be attributed in priority to
StarOmics members.**\n\n\n\n# Overview\nResearchers often have access or g
enerate multiple omics data (RNAseq\, metabolomics\, lipidomics\, proteomi
cs…) within a single study. Although each omics data has been traditiona
lly analysed in isolation\, combining possibly complementary data can yiel
d a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in the biological proc
esses. Several integrative approaches are now available to combine such da
ta\, which can be regarded as extensions of the standard Principal Compone
nt Analysis (PCA).\n\nIn this-2 day course\, we will provide an overview o
f omics data structures\, and present different unsupervised and supervise
d statistical approaches\, from simple PCA/PLS to more advanced multiomics
dimension reduction methods (Common Component and Specific Weights Analys
is\, Consensus Orthogonal Partial Least Squares). For each method\, we wil
l cover both its principles and practical aspects. \n\n\n# Audience\nThis
course is addressed to life scientists who have worked with at least one t
ype of data.\n\n# Learning outcomes\nAt the end of the course\, the partic
ipants are expected to:\n* perform and interpret a PCA and build a PLS mod
el on a single data table\n* compute and interpret an unsupervised R MBAna
lysis package (CCSWA) and a supervised integrative model with the Consensu
 sOPLS R package \n\n# Prerequisites\n### ***Knowledge / competencies***\nY
ou should meet the learning outcomes of \n[First Steps with R in Life Scie
 nces](https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/20250203_FSWR) and [Introducti
 on to Statistics with R](https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/20250127_ST
ATR).\n\nEvaluate your R skills with the following [self-assessment](https
 ://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdIyeuabd_ZOWXgI1MWHapmaOMu20L9ESkLDZi
WnpmkpujyOg/viewform).\n \nYou should also have performed analyses with at
least one type of data (RNAseq\, metabolomics…).\n\n### ***Technical***
\nYou are required to bring your own laptop and have the following install
ed:\n* R and RStudio \n* R packages will be announced to the participants\
n\n\n# Schedule\n\n**Day 1:** Introduction to dimensionality reduction the
ory and exercises (PCA/PLS)\n\n**Day 2:** Introduction to multiblock analy
ses\, focusing on an unsupervised model (Common Component and Specific Wei
ghts Analysis) and a supervised model (Consensus Orthogonal Partial Least
Squares) \n\n# Application\n\n\n**A certain number of places will be attri
buted in priority to StarOmics members. If you are a StarOmics student\, p
lease indicate this in your application.**\n\nThe registration fees for ac
ademics are **200 CHF** and **1000 CHF** for for-profit companies.\n\nWhil
e participants are registered on a first come\, first served basis\, excep
tions may be made to ensure diversity and equity\, which may increase the
time before your registration is confirmed.\n\nApplications will close as
soon as the places will be filled up. Deadline for free-of-charge cancella
tion is set to *27/02/2025*. Cancellation after this date will not be reim
bursed. Please note that participation in SIB courses is subject to our [g
 eneral conditions](https://www.sib.swiss/training/terms-and-conditions).\n
\nYou will be informed by email of your registration confirmation. Upon re
ception of the confirmation email\, participants will be asked to confirm
attendance by paying the fees within 5 days.\n\n# Venue and Time\n\nUniver
sity of Geneva\, Centre Médical Universitaire (CMU).\n\nThe course will s
tart at 9:00 and end around 17:00.\n\nPrecise information will be provided
to the participants in due time.\n\n\n# Additional information\nCoordina
tion: Monique Zahn\, SIB Training group.\n\nWe will recommend 0.5 ECTS cre
dits for this course (given a passed exam at the end of the course).\n\nYo
u are welcome to register to the SIB courses mailing list to be informed o
f all future courses and workshops\, as well as all important deadlines us
 ing the form [here](https://lists.sib.swiss/mailman/listinfo/courses).\n\n
Please note that participation in SIB courses is subject to our [general c
 onditions](https://www.sib.swiss/training/terms-and-conditions).\n\nSIB ab
ides by the [ELIXIR Code of Conduct](https://elixir-europe.org/events/code
-of-conduct). Participants of SIB courses are also required to abide by th
 e same code.\n\nFor more information\, please contact [training@sib.swiss]
