DESCRIPTION:A guide to the technology\, analysis workflows\, tools\, and re
sources for next generation sequencing data analysis.\n\nThis virtual cou
rse will provide insights into how biological knowledge can be derived fr
om genomics experiments and explain different approaches in analysing such
data. The main focus will be on assembly\, re-sequencing\, and variant c
alling during the analysis of higher-eukaryotes\, with a particular emphas
is on human genetic research. Throughout the week\, more advanced topics w
ill introduce the creation of pipelines\, automation\, and the scaling-up
of analysis experiments.\n\nPractical sessions will enable participants to
process training datasets and apply appropriate statistical methods in th
eir analyses. There will be no opportunity to work with personal research
data during the course.\n\n#### Virtual course\n\nParticipants will lear
 n via a mix of pre-recorded lectures\, live presentations\, and trainer Q&
amp\;A sessions. Practical experience will be developed through group acti
vities and trainer-led computational exercises. Live sessions will be deli
vered using [Zoom](https://zoom.us/) with additional support and communica
 tion via [Slack](https://slack.com/intl/en-gb/). \n\nPre-recorded materia
l will be made available to registered participants prior to the start of
the course and in the week before the course there will be a brief inducti
on session. Computational practicals will run on EMBL-EBI's virtual train
ing infrastructure\, meaning participants will not require access to a pow
erful computer or install complex software on their own machines.\n\nParti
cipants will need to be available between the hours of 09:30-17:30 GMT eac
h day of the course. Trainers will be available to assist\, answer questio
ns and further explain the analysis during these times.
