DESCRIPTION:    \n\nGoals\n\nThis workshop organised by VI-HPS and LRZ as
a PRACE training event will:\n\n\n	give an overview of the VI-HPS program
ming tools suite\n	explain the functionality of individual tools\, and how
to use them effectively\n	offer hands-on experience and expert assistance
using the tools\n\n\nOn completion participants should be familiar with c
ommon performance analysis and diagnosis techniques and how they can be em
ployed in practice (on a range of HPC systems). Those who prepared their o
wn application test cases will have been coached in the tuning of their me
asurement and analysis\, and provided optimization suggestions.\n\nProgram
me Overview\n\nPresentations and hands-on sessions are planned on the foll
owing topics:\n\n\n	Setting up\, welcome and introduction\n	mpiP lightweig
ht MPI profiling\n	TAU performance system\n	MAQAO performance analysis &am
 p\; optimisation\n	Score-P instrumentation and measurement\n	Scalasca auto
mated trace analysis\n	Paraver/Extrae/Dimemas trace analysis and performan
 ce prediction\n	Extra-P automated performance modeling\n	[k]cachegrind cac
he utilisation analysis\n	... and potentially others to be added\n\n\nA br
ief overview of the capabilities of these and associated tools is provided
in the VI-HPS Tools Guide.\n\nThe workshop will be held in English and ru
 n from 09:00 to not later than 18:00 each day\, with breaks.\n\nParticipan
ts are encouraged to prepare their own MPI\, OpenMP and hybrid MPI+OpenMP
parallel application codes for analysis.\n\nProgramme in Detail (provision

C is the primary platform for the workshop and will be used for the hands-
on exercises. Course accounts will be provided during the workshop to part
icipants without existing accounts. Other systems where up-to-date version
s of the tools are installed can also be used when preferred\, though supp
ort may be limited and participants are expected to already possess user a
ccounts on non-local systems. Regardless of whichever external systems the
y intend to use\, participants should be familiar with the relevant proced
ures for compiling and running their parallel applications (via batch queu
 es where appropriate).\n\nContact\n\n\n	\n \n \n Tuning Workshop Seri
