DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT INFORMATION: WAITING LIST\n\nIf the course gets fully
booked\, no more registrations are accepted through this website. However
\, you can be included in the waiting list: for that\, please send an emai
l to training-research@surf.nl and you'll be informed when a place becomes
available.\n\n[NOTE: this course consists of a self-paced course period o
f 2 weeks\, with 3 online sessions to monitor progress. Please read the de
tails below.]\n\nOverview\n\nThis course is a follow-up to our introductor
y Blender course. We assume you are familiar with working with Blender and
have some experience with topics such as the Blender UI\, 3D meshes\, mat
erials\, lighting and cameras.\n\nIn this course you will learn a number o
f advanced Blender topics:\n\n* The basics of the Python API that is avail
able in Blender. You will learn how the API is structured and eventually s
tart making some simple geometry with code. This can be used\, for example
\, for writing custom import scripts or to perform operations that you wou
ld otherwise do manually.\n\n* The node-based shader editor that is used t
o create and edit materials. In our introductory Blender course we did go
into detail on materials\, but without describing the node-based shader ne
tworks that are the basis of materials. Here\, we go deeper into these nod
e network and how to edit them.\n\n* More advanced animation topics\, such
as shape keys.\n\nAnother important part of the course is that you will w
ork on a visualisation based on your own research or other endeavours.\n\n
Course duration\n\nThe basis of the course is self-paced training during t
he two-week course period\, using course materials that we provide (videos
and exercises) and with three short online sessions (17th\, 24th and 31st
May). During the course period you can work on the materials in your own
pace. We provide a Discord communication channel with the course teachers
that you can use for questions and feedback during the course. We use a sm
all number of online plenary sessions spread over the indicated two-week p
eriod\, beginning with an introductory webinar and two follow-up feedback
sessions. These are used to discuss your projects and make sure you are ab
le to make progress.\n\nYour own project and data\n\nTo get the most out o
f the course we would like you to use a dataset from your work (or sample
thereof) that you want to use for visualisation with Blender. Alternativel
y\, we have a back-up dataset to work with\, but it most likely will origi
nate from a different scientific domain than your own. So please collect s
ome data you think would be great to make 3D visualisations of and that yo
u are comfortable with.\n\nDuring the online sessions we would like you to
present your visualisation goals\, your data\, and your progress at makin
g a visualisation with Blender. During the interactive moments our visuali
sation team will help you further with your specific project and challenge
s.\n\nAll the contents and more detailed information\n\nPlease find more d
