DESCRIPTION:Overview:\n\nThis three day workshop will provide attendees wit
h the knowledge required to understand the most optimal way to port\, exec
ute and optimize applications for ARCHER2. The workshop is a mixture of le
ctures and practical hands-on sessions. Example exercises will be provided
but attendees are encouraged to bring their own applications.\n\nSpecific
topics that will be covered include:\n\n\n	Cray EX System Architecture\n
Compiling and running applications ( Programming Environment\, compilers\,
  libraries\, Slurm )\n	Debugging tools\n	Application profiling\n	Optimizat
ion of applications for serial performance\, parallel execution and effici
ent use of I/O\n\n\nThis is an opportunity to learn learn in detail about
the system hardware and software architecture\, direct from HPE Cray Cent
re of Excellence experts\, and we do not expect to be able to repeat this
opportunity in the near future. No recordings will be provided so we encou
rage you to sign up now to ensure your place.\n\nPrerequisites:\n\nAlthoug
h the first day is of a more introductory nature it is expected that atten
dees are proficient Linux users\, are familiar with HPC system environment
s in general and have a good understanding of parallel programming in C/Fo
 rtran.\n\n \n\nRequirements:\n\nParticipants must bring a laptop with a M
 ac\, Linux\, or Windows operating system (not a tablet\, Chromebook\, etc.
) that they have administrative privileges on.\n\nThey are also required t
o abide by the ARCHER2 Training Code of Conduct.\n\nThis course is open to
users of ARCHER2. \n\nThis course will not be recorded and the materials
will be shared only with the participants.\n\nTimetable:\n\nDay 1: Introd
uction to the ARCHER2 architecture and software.\n\n\n	Introduction to the
Cray Hardware and Programming Environment.\n	Overview of compilers and li
braries\n	Advanced Job Launching\n\n\nDay 2: Deep dive on compilation and
profiling.\n\n\n	Introduction to Perftools\n	Advanced performance analysis
 \n	Performance Optimization: Improving single-core efficiency\n	Debugging
at scale\n\n\nDay 3: Deep dive on MPI and IO. You will also have the oppor
tunity to compile your code on ARCHER2.\n\n\n	Understanding Cray MPI\n	Ran
k reordering and MPMD application launch\n	IO Optimization -- Parallel I/O
 \n\n\n\n\nThere will be morning\, lunch\, and afternoon breaks. \nThere w
ill be a mixture between lessons and hands-on exercises.\n\nDetailed timet
able (PDF)\n\nEligibility\n\nThis course is open to users of ARCHER2\n\nPl
ease ensure you enter your **ARCHER2 Username and Project code** in the
"Reason for participation" section to ensure your registration is accepted
