DESCRIPTION:[ONLINE] GPU programming using CUDA\n\n12 - 13 Apr. 2022\n\nDes
cription\n\nThe focus of the training is to understand the basics of accel
erator programming with the CUDA parallel computing platform model. \n\nCU
DA is a parallel computing platform and application programming interface
(API) model created by NVIDIA. It allows software developers to use a CUDA
-enabled graphics processing unit (GPU) for general purpose processing –
an approach known as GPGPU. The CUDA platform is a software layer that gi
ves direct access to the GPU’s virtual instruction set and parallel comp
utational elements\, for the execution of compute kernels. \n\nThe course
also contains performance and best practice considerations\, e.g.\, gpu li
braries\, performance optimizations\, tools for debugging and profiling.\n
\nParticipants will acquire the basic skills needed for utilizing CUDA in
new or existing codes.\n\nThe training programme is comprised of short ses
sions\, while there will be time for Q&amp\;A.\n\nPrerequisites\n\nThe cou
rse is addressed to people who are familiar with the C/C++ or Fortran prog
ramming languages and have working experience with the Linux operating sys
tem and the use of the command line. Experience with parallel programming
or gpu programming (MPI\,OpenMP and CUDA) is not required.\n\nCourse langu
age is English.\n\nPrices and Eligibility\n\nThe course is open and free o
f charge for people from academia and industry from the Member States (MS)
of the European Union (EU) and Associated &amp\; Other Countries to the H
orizon 2020 programme.\n\nRegistration\n\nPlease register with your offici
al e-mail address to prove your affiliation.\n\n \n\nVenue\n\nONLINE Usin
g ZOOM\n\nConnection details will be mailed the day prior to the course. S
ince the e-mail contains links\, please also check Spam folders.\n\nTimeta
 ble:\n\nAll times are in EEST timezone.\n\n12 Apr. 2022\n\n10:30 - 11:00 :

\n\nDr. Dellis (Male) holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry (1990) and PhD in Computa
tional Chemistry (1995) from the National and Kapodistrian University of A
thens\, Greece. He has extensive HPC and grid computing experience. In EGE
E/EGI projects he acted as application support and VO software manager for
SEE VO\, grid sites administrator (HG-02\, GR-06)\, NGI_GRNET support sta
ff (2008-2014). In PRACE 1IP-6IP he was involved in benchmarking tasks eit
her as group member or as BCO (2010-present). Currently he holds the posit
ion of “Head of HPC team” at GRNET S.A.\n\nDr. Ioannis E. Venetis rece
ived his PhD in 2006 from the Computer Engineering and Informatics Departm
ent at the University of Patras in Greece. Currently he is an Assistant Pr
ofessor at the Informatics Department at the University of Piraeus in Gree
ce\, where he teaches\, among others\, "Parallel Computing". He has partic
ipated in numerous research projects in the area of Parallel Computing. Hi
s main research interests include parallel programming models\, run-time s
ystems for supporting such models\, co-processor programming (especially u
sing GPUs and the Intel Xeon Phi) and parallelization of computationally d
 emanding applications.\n\nAbout GRNET\n\nGRNET - National Infrastructures
for Research and Technology\, provides advanced network\, cloud computing
and IT infrastructures and services to academic and research institutions\
, to educational bodies at all levels\, as well as to agencies of the publ
ic\, broader public and private sector. It holds a key role as the coordin
ator of all e-infrastructures in education and research\, leveraging the e
ducational and research activity in the country towards the development of
applied and technological research. GRNET\, supervised by the Ministry of
Digital Governance\, contributes to the country’s Digital Transformatio
 n via in-depth analysis\, technological studies\, standard solutions and s
pecialized know-how\, serving at the same time hundreds of thousands of us
ers on a daily basis in the strategic fields of Public Administration\, Ed
 ucation\, Research\, Health and Culture.\n\nhttps://hpc.grnet.gr/ https://
