DESCRIPTION:Description: \n\nThe aim of this workshop is to deliver a "tran
ing on the job" school based on a class of selected numerical methods for
parallel Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). \nThe workshop aims to share
the methodologies\, numerical methods and their implementation used by th
e state-of-the-art numerical codes used on hybrid multi-many core High Per
formance Computing (HPC) clusters. \nThe lectures will present the challe
nges of numerically solving Partial Differential Equations (PDE) in proble
ms related to fluid-dynamics\, using  massively parallel clusters. \nThe
lectures will give a step-by-step walk through the numerical methods and
their parallel aspects\, starting from a serial code up to scalablity on c
 lusters\, \nincluding strategies for parallelization (MPI\, OpenMPI\, GPU
s\, plug-in of numerical libraries\,....) with hands-on during the lecture
 s.  \nProfiling and optimization techiques on standard and heterogeneous
clusters will be shown during the school. \nDue to actual circumstances\,
this year the school will be fully virtual. The duration is extended fro
m original one week up to two weeks\, with morning lessons and free aftern
oons.\nFinal Agenda will be published upon confirmation of the speakers.
 \n\nDuration: two weeks\, 30 Nov. 11 Dec. Morning Lessons (CET Time)\n\nTh
e first week (30 Nov - 4 Dec) will be performed in collaboration with PRAC
E.\n\nThe second week (4 Dec-11 Dec) will be performed in collaboration wi
th Excellerat Centre of Excellence\n\nSkills: \n\nAt the end of the cours
e\, the student will possess and know how to use the following skills:\n\n
 Numerical analysis\nAlgorithms for PDE Solution\nParallel computing (MPI\,
  OpenMP\, GPUs) \nHPC architecture\nStrategies for massively parallelizat
ion of numerical methods\nNumerical Libraries for HPC\n\nTarget audience:\
 n\nMSc/PhD students\, Post-Docs\,  Academic and industrial researchers\,
software developers  which use / are planning to use / develop a code for
  CFD \n\nPre-requisites: \n\nprevious course(s) on parallel computing\, n
umerical analysis and algorithms for p.d.e. solution.\n\nAdmitted students
:\n\nAttendance is free.\n\nThe number of participants is limited to 40 st
udents.\nApplicants will be selected according to their experience\, quali
fications and scientific interest BASED ON WHAT WRITTEN IN THE REGISTRATIO
N FORM.\nPlease use the field "Reason for participation" to specify skills
that match the requested pre-requisites for the school.\n\nDEADLINE FOR R
EGISTRATION: Nov\, Mon 23rd 2020.\n\nTHE STUDENTS ADMITTED AND NOT ADMITTE
D WILL BE CONTACTED VIA EMAIL ON NOVEMBER\, THURSDAY 26TH.\n\nIF YOU SUBMI
TTED AND DID NOT RECEIVE ANY EMAIL\, PLEASE WRITE AT corsi.hpc@cineca.it.
