DESCRIPTION:This course has three parts:Distributed memory parallelization 
 with the Message Passing Interface MPI (for beginners) (Mon+Tue)\nOn clust
 ers and distributed memory architectures\, parallel programming with the M
 essage Passing Interface (MPI) is the dominating programming model. The co
 urse gives an full introduction into MPI-1. Further aspects are domain dec
 omposition\, load balancing\, and debugging. An MPI-2 overview and the MPI
 -2 one-sided communication is also taught.Shared memory parallelization wi
 th OpenMP (for beginners) (Wed)\nThe focus is on shared memory paralleliza
 tion with OpenMP\, the key concept on hyper-threading\, dual-core\, multi-
 core\, shared memory\, and ccNUMA platforms. This course teaches shared me
 mory OpenMP parallelization.Advanced topics in parallel programming (Thu+F
 ri)\nTopics are MPI-2 parallel file I/O\, hybrid mixed model MPI+OpenMP pa
 rallelization\, OpenMP on clusters\, parallelization of explicit and impli
 cit solvers and of particle based applications\, parallel numerics and lib
 raries\, and parallelization with PETSc.Hands-on sessions (in C and Fortra
