About the Event:

The Royal Statistical Society is pleased to be hosting an open meeting on the Retail Prices Index (RPI) on Thursday 2 April, from 5.30pm, at its Errol Street headquarters.   

The meeting forms part of the consultation that the UK Statistics Authority (UKSA) and HM Treasury (HMT) are undertaking on this important subject, following the decision to bring the methods of CPIH into RPI.

The UKSA-HMT consultation will consider whether to bring CPIH’s methods into RPI between 2025 and 2030. This RSS-hosted meeting, organised jointly with UKSA, will discuss the statistical elements of the consultation, and other matters related to inflation statistics.

The event’s confirmed keynote speakers are currently: Jonathan Athow (Deputy National Statistician, Office for National Statistics); Jill Leyland (member, ONS Advisory Panel (Stakeholder) on Consumer Prices); and Tony Cox (Chair, RPI/CPI User Group).
