DESCRIPTION:Educators:\nJulianus Pfeuffer\, Timo Sachsenberg\n\nDate:\n16.0
 9.2019\n\nLocation:\nGCB 2019.\nHeidelberg\n\nContents:\nComputational mas
s spectrometry provides important tools and bioinformatic solutions for th
e analysis of proteomics data. Different methods for label-free quantifica
tion have been developed in recent years and were successfully applied in
a wide range of studies. Targeted approaches for label-free quantification
\, like SWATH-MS\, achieve deep proteome coverage over a large number of s
amples while non-targeted methods have shown great potential in unbiased d
iscovery studies. This de.NBI training event introduces key concepts of bo
 th targeted SWATH-MS and non-targeted label-free analysis using workflow-b
ased processing of real-life datasets. We will introduce several open-sour
ce software tools for proteomics\, primarily focusing on OpenMS (http://ww
w.OpenMS.org). In a hands-on session\, we will demonstrate how to combine
these tools into complex data analysis workflows including visualization o
f the results. Participants will have the opportunity to bring their own d
ata and design custom analysis workflows together with instructors. For pa
rticipants interested in developing their own algorithms and methods withi
n the OpenMS framework\, we provide a brief introduction to pyOpenMS – t
he python interface to the OpenMS development library.\nTraining material
and handouts will be prepared for both users that want to design proteomic
workflows\, as well as training material for algorithm and tool developer
s.\n\nSoftware Requirements:\nThe participants should bring their own lapt
op computers. Installer versions of required software will be made availab
 le.\n\nKeywords:\nLC-MS based proteomics\, OpenMS\, workflows\, KNIME\, da
 ta analysis\n\nTools:\nOpenMS/pyOpenMS\, KNIME
