DESCRIPTION:Python is a dynamic object-oriented programming language. Becau
se of its powerful and flexible syntax\, Python excels as a platform for s
cientific computing. Versatility\, simplicity of use\, high portability an
d the large number of open source modules and packages make it very popula
r for scientific use.\n\nAlthough pure Python is generally slower compared
to traditional language (C or Fortran)\, there are various techniques and
libraries that allow you to obtain performance absolutely comparable to t
hose of the most common compiled languages\, assuring a good balance betwe
en computational performance and time investment.\n\nAfter a short introdu
ction to the basic syntax\, the course will focus on the main aspects of u
sing Python as a language for computational science. The most important sc
ientific modules for Python will be covered and an introduction of mixed l
anguage programming will be provided.\n\nTopics: \n\nKey features of Pyth
on Language. Introduction to Python syntax. Introduction to scientific too
ls for Python.\n\nTarget audience: \n\nResearchers and programmers intere
sted in scientific programming with Python.\n\nPre-requisites: \n\n \nKn
owledge of the basic fundamentals of scientific programming (for instance
C/C++\, Fortran).\n\nGrant\nThe lunch for the three days will be offered t
o all the participants and some grants are available. The only requirement
to be eligible is to be not funded by your institution to attend the cour
se and to work or live in an institute outside the Roma area. The grant
will be 300 euros for students working and living outside Italy and 150 e
uros for students working and living in Italy. Some documentation will be
required and the grant will be paid only after a certified presence of min
imum 80% of the lectures.\n\nFurther information about how to request the
grant\, will be provided at the confirmation of the course: about 3 weeks
 before the starting date.\n\n \n\nhttps://events.prace-ri.eu/event/515/
