DESCRIPTION:This course covers the potential pitfalls of short-read sequenc
ing studies and provides options for visualisation and quality control (QC
) for early detection and diagnosis of issues. You will gain an understand
ing of Illumina sequencing and different QC metrics that can be extracted
from sequencing reads\, such as base quality scores. The course also cover
s how QC metrics vary across different library types and thus distinguish
between expected and unexpected QC results. You will be introduced to key
software tools including FastQC\, FastQ Screen\, and MultiQC to carry out
quality assessment of your sequencing data.\n\n\nIf you do not have a Univ
 ersity of Cambridge [Raven account](https://legacy.raven.cam.ac.uk/auth/ac
count/) please book or register your interest [here](http://bioinfotrainin
 g.bio.cam.ac.uk/booking-form/?event-id=5147144&amp\;course-title=Quality%2
 0Control%20in%20Sequencing%20Experiments%20online).\n\nAdditional informat
ion\n\n* Our courses are only free for registered University of Cambridge
students. All other participants will be charged according to our [chargi
 ng policy](http://www.training.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatics/info/charging).\n*
Attendance will be taken on all courses and a charge is applied for non-a
ttendance\, including for University of Cambridge students. After you have
booked a place\, if you are unable to attend any of the live sessions\, p
 lease email the [Bioinfo Team](https://training.csx.cam.ac.uk/bioinformati
cs/info/contact).\n* Further details regarding eligibility criteria are av
 ailable [here](http://www.training.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatics/info/eligibili
