DESCRIPTION:This intensive 3-day course introduces the statistical software
and programming language R with specific focus on its applications in lif
e sciences and clinical research.\n\nEach day of the course focuses on a s
 pecific topic\, as follows:\n\nDay 1. R fundamentals: An introduction to t
he language and its interface. Get familiar with R\, R studio\, operators\
 , variables\, functions\, directories and the script editor.\n\nDay 2. Dat
a visualisation: Providing you with the tools to make publication quality
plots using R.\n\nDay 3. Statistical analysis in R: We will cover statisti
cal methods ranging from simple univariate statistics to dealing with larg
e volumes of variables using Principal Component Analysis.\n\nThe course i
s designed to be undertaken at the student’s own pace with 1 on 1 target
ed support from our team of experts. Our team comprises computational biol
ogists\, data scientists\, and bioinformaticians with a strong background
in both wet and dry lab projects. Empowering you on a self-learning path\,
you will gain essential skills to apply R to your research projects and t
o generate publication-ready outputs.\n\nWe will also be available to assi
st with your learning up to two months after the final day of the course.
Moreover\, upon completion of the course\, all delegates will be invited t
o join a peer-peer support community “RClub” to enhance their research
/analytical work.\n\nThis course runs twice a year – in March and in Oct
ober. The next cohort will be held online on 18th - 20th March 2026.\n\nSi
gn up using the link provided before the 3rd March. Places are limited and
registration may close earlier if places are full.\n\nThe course has a co
st of £300 for all academic delegates\; £500 for all delegates from publ
ic institutions (not academic). If you are a delegate from the University
of Liverpool you can access student bursaries. Note the delegate bursary a
pplications close on the 17th February 2026. You must submit both a regist
ration form and a bursary application to be considered.\n\nFor more advanc
ed data analysis (e.g. omics) and data science projects\, we strongly reco
mmend you also sign up for our R for Data Science course.\n\nApplications
close on the 3rd March\, and spaces are limited.
