DESCRIPTION:This **4-day intensive course** builds on the **content from ou
 r [R for Beginners course](https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/computational-biolo
gy-facility/events/r-beginners/)**\, providing an excellent toolbox for mu
ltidisciplinary scientists in areas of **life sciences and biomedicine (pa
rticularly oriented to omics datasets).**\n\n**Day 1. Recap of R fundament
als and introduction to loops in R:** Building on the R fundamentals from
our R for beginners course\, we will teach you how to use programmatic loo
ps. Loops allow you to automate repetitive tasks and accelerate your analy
sis\, making your scripts neater and saving you time.\n\n**Day 2. Applying
loops with custom functions:** We will teach you how to apply loops to di
fferent data structures and how to create your very own functions in R\, a
llowing you to customise your analysis based on your needs.\n\n**Day 3. In
troduction to Data Science and Data Analysis Pipelines:** We will cover th
e key steps in a data analysis pipeline including normalisation\, batch co
rrection\, clustering\, and how to deal with selecting variables in a mult
ivariate dataset using supervised modelling (e.g. PLS-DA).\n\n**Day 4. Int
roduction to machine learning and functional enrichment:** We will introdu
ce the powerful machine learning approach Random forests as well as apply
gene ontology functional enrichment analysis\, finishing with applying you
r new skills to two RNAseq case studies.\n\nThe course is designed to be u
ndertaken at the **student’s own pace** with **1 on 1 targeted support**
from our team of experts. **Our team comprises computational biologists\,
data scientists\, and bioinformaticians** with a strong background in bot
h wet and dry lab projects. Empowering you on a self-learning path\, you w
ill **gain essential skills to apply R to your research projects** and to
**generate publication-ready outputs**.\n\nWe will also be available to **
assist with your learning up to two months after** the final day of the co
urse. Moreover\, upon completion of the course\, all delegates will be **i
nvited to join a peer-peer support community “RClub”** to enhance thei
 r research/analytical work.\n\nThis course runs twice a year – in April
and in November. The next cohort will be held online on the **1st-4th Apri
 l 2025.\n\n**Sign up using the [link provided](https://forms.office.com/Pa

limited and registration may close earlier if places are full.\n\nThe cour
se has a cost of **£400 for all academic delegates\; £600 for all delega
tes from public institutions (not academic). Industry delegates may submit
an application** and will be quoted on an individual basis. If you are a
delegate from the **University of Liverpool you can access student bursari
es**\, that you can apply to using this link. Note the **delegate bursarie
s applications close on the 4th March 2025**. You must submit both a regis
tration form and a bursary application to be considered.\n\n**Applications
close on the 18th March 2025**\, and spaces are limited.\n\n**To sign up\
