 ugh the publication process. Topics that will be addressed are:\n\nIntrodu
 ction\n\nA chance to consider why you might want to publish in peer review
 ed journals. (Presentation\, discussion in pairs and the whole group.)\n\n
 Writing style\n\nGuidance on the writing style needed for research papers.

  writing process\n\nOverview of the process of writing\, including techniq
 ues for getting motivated\, getting into the habit of writing and getting 
 feedback. (Presentation and discussion.)\n\nThe structure of the paper\n\n
 The usual structure of research papers and common variations. (Presentatio
 n\, discussion\, exercise analysing a paper.)\n\nTitle and abstract\n\nGui
 dance on writing titles and abstracts and avoiding common errors\, and a c
 hance to write your own abstract and get feedback on it. (Presentation\, a
 nalysis exercise\, writing exercise\, one-to-one coaching.)\n\nChoosing a 
 journal\n\nThe criteria to think about when choosing a journal\, such as s
 cope\, audience\, speed of review and publication\, open access options\, 
 impact metrics\, charges. (Presentation\, discussion and exercise investig
 ating websites of journals you might submit to.)\n\nThe peer review proces
 s: before\, during and after\n\nPresentation with questions on negotiating
  the peer review process\, responding to decisions including rejection\, a
 nd what to do when your paper is accepted and published\, particularly pub
 licising it.\n\nPublicising your paper\n\nWhy publicising is necessary and
  the different ways to do it\, including social media. (Presentation and d
 iscussion.)
