DESCRIPTION:Join us on World Sight Day to find out about our ongoing curati
on project at UniProt to annotate proteins involved in eye development and
disease.\n\nGlobally around 2.2 billion people have a near or distance vi
sion impairment\, of whom at least 1 billion have a condition that could h
ave been prevented or is yet to be treated (WHO World report on vision 201
9). One of the many curation efforts at UniProt aims to support biomedical
research into eye health and treatment\, by focusing on curating proteins
in human and model organisms that have an involvement in eye formation\,
maintenance and/or health.\n\nThis webinar will demonstrate how we selecte
 d these proteins\, then collected\, interpreted\, and integrated informati
on from a range of sources to provide comprehensive and high-quality overv
iew of their sequence and functional information. It will also discuss how
we also annotate photoreceptor cell and eye proteins in non-human organis
ms to help scientists understand common components and regulatory mechanis
ms that underly the formation and maintenance of visual systems.\n\nThis w
ebinar is part of a series covering various aspects of UniProt\, view [ot
