DESCRIPTION:Our goal is to help scientists become more productive by teachi
 ng them basic computing skills like program design\, version control\, tes
 ting and task automation. In this three-day bootcamp\, short tutorials wil
 l alternate with hands-on practical exercises. \n\nYou will learn to:\n\nu
 se the shell to do more in less time\nautomate your tasks and pipelines\nw
 rite structured programs\nuse Git to manage and share information\nhow (an
 d how much) to test programs\nThis workshop will be delivered virtually\, 
 via Zoom. The course will be delivered over three days (see programme tab 
 for more details)\, with input from 10:00-15:30 GMT\, including breaks. Se
 ssions will be recorded and shared with participants as soon as possible a
 fterwards. \n\nTarget Audience\n\nThe course is aimed at researchers in th
 e life science and computational science disciplines at all career stages.
  We particularly encourage students and post-doctoral scientists to attend
 \, but the course is open to everyone.\n\n\nPrerequisites\n\nThis is aimed
  at trainees with very little or no prior knowledge of programming.\nYou w
 ill need your own laptop/computer to participate\, and an internet connect
 ion. \nIf possible\, connect by ethernet cable to your router for a more s
 table connection. \nWe strongly suggest that you have a second screen or o
 ne large screen. You may not get the best experience if you can only parti
 cipate on a small laptop screen. \nYou will need to download software and 
 data in advance\, there will be a pre-course drop in to check this.
