About the event:
The Case Fatality Ratio (CFR, sometimes called the Case Fatality Rate) is the proportion of disease cases who die of the disease. The CFR reflects the severity of the disease, informing contingency planning and priority setting for disease control. It is also an important measure for the success of candidate treatments. Yet while this quantity is easy to define and understand, its estimation is often not straightforward. Real examples from the analysis of infectious diseases illustrate the issues that have arisen.
