DESCRIPTION:\n	JUQUEEN is JSC's large special purpose supercomputer\, an IB
M Blue Gene/Q with 5.9 Petaflop/s. Although production on JUQUEEN started
more than two years ago\, users still need to make special efforts in orde
r to get the most out of this unique research tool and get accustomed to t
he hard- and software.\n\n	Each year the workshop also focuses on one spec
ial user group with additional parallel talks and closer support (this doe
s not exclude other users). The third workshop in this series invites user
s from earth system modelling. This will be supported by our Simulation La
boratories for Climate Science and Terrestrial Systems.\n\n	The aim of thi
s hands-on workshop is to support current users of JUQUEEN in porting thei
r software\, in analysing its performance\, and in improving its efficienc
 y. The workshop topics start with an introduction to JUQUEEN's hard- and s
oftware and related best practices. It will also explain the available per
formance and debugging tools and explain parallel I/O with its data format
 s. Special topics may then provide more in-depth knowledge on specific BG/
Q features such as prefetching\, SIMDsation with QPX\, low-level networkin
g\, and active storage as well as topics close to earth system modelling.\
n\n	It is highly recommended that project PIs send at least one expert on
their code to this workshop.\n	 \nPrerequisites \n	Participants should be
long to a currently active simulation project on JUQUEEN (project-ID!) and
should already have an active user account (user-id!). Test runs during t
he workshop will be done on the participants' own project accounts.\n\n	In
order to gain maximum benefit from this workshop\, participants should ha
ve an in-depth (hands-on) knowledge of the algorithms and codes used in th
eir project.\n\n	In addition\, we also ask participants to prepare a test
case to evaluate the initial performance of their code and to monitor the
progress.\n	 \nGeneral outline of the workshop\nEach day will have a mix
of lectures to choose from and hands-on sessions. The lectures will be giv
en by local experts from Simulation Laboratories\, Cross-Sectional Teams a
nd Application Support.\nThe detailed agenda will be made available.Applic
ation \nRegistrations are only considered until the 19th of December 2014.
\nDue to available space\, the maximal number of participants is limited.\
nParticipants will be notified early in January 2015.\nNote that in the ap
plication form we ask for some information about your project and code in
order to better plan the workshop program. This workshop is a Prace Advanc
ed Training Centres (PATC) course.Further information\nUpdated information
on this course and information about travel and accommodation will be mad
 e availbale at http://www.fz-juelich.de/ias/jsc/events/juqueenpt15Contact\
