DESCRIPTION:**This webinar will be streamed to registered participants only
.**\n\n# Overview\nAre you working on plants and struggling to find inform
ation about plant proteins? Are you curious about the biosynthesis of natu
ral compounds like caffeine\, capsaicin\, and others? Are you interested
in the interactions between plant and pathogens? If so\, this webinar is f
or you. \n\n[UniProt](https://www.uniprot.org/) is the world’s leading h
igh-quality\, comprehensive and freely accessible resource of protein sequ
ence and functional information. UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot curators manually ex
tract information from the scientific literature\, including plant protein
 s. UniProt also provides protein sets (proteomes) for plant species with s
equenced genomes. \n\nStarting with a biological question (i.e.\, how to g
et the list of enzymes involved in the synthesis of CBD or THC)\, you will
explore the different ways of answering it\, using UniProt. Hints on how
to extend queries to other biological contexts will also be provided. \n\n
This 1-h webinar will introduce the plant-related data in UniProt and how
to find it. \n\n# Audience\nThis webinar is for **beginners** interested i
n protein enzymes.\n\n# Learning outcomes\nAt the end of this webinar\, th
e participants are expected to:\n* describe the information on plant prote
ins found in UniProt\, focussing on plant enzymes\n* use the advanced sear
ch to query UniProt for plant protein information\n* recall how to find co
mplete plant proteomes\n* know where to find help\, documentation and get
 support\n\n# Prerequisites\n##### Knowledge / competencies\nKnowledge of b
iology and plants is required for this course. \n\nWhile this course is de
signed for beginners\, we suggest you view the video [Inside expert biocur
 ation in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvrCJtJnDbo

binar will be streamed\; you are thus required to have your own computer w

\; however\, registration is mandatory. \n\nYou will be informed by email
of your registration confirmation.\n\n# Venue and Time\nThis webinar will
be streamed using Zoom. It will start at 15:00 CET (09:00 EST) and end aro
und 16:00 CET (10:00 EST).\n\nAll registered participants will receive the
information for connecting remotely by email one working day prior to the
  webinar. \n\n# Additional information\nCoordination: Monique Zahn\, SIB
Training group.\n\nYou are welcome to register to the SIB courses mailing
list to be informed of all future courses and workshops\, as well as all i
mportant deadlines using the form [here](https://lists.sib.swiss/mailman/l
