DESCRIPTION:We are glad to invite you to the VII Bioinformatics and Genomic
 s Symposium\, which will take place at the Auditori edifici Vèrtex (Campu
 s Nord UPC\, Plaça Eusebi Güell 6\, Barcelona) on the 17th of December o
 f 2019. The symposium is organized together by the Section of Computationa
 l Biology and Bioinformatics and the Section of Genomics and Proteomics of
  the Societat Catalana de Biologia (SCB)\, the Bioinformatics Barcelona As
 sociation (BIB)\, and co-organized with the Spanish Bioinformatics Institu
 te (INB/ELIXIR-ES).\n\nThe main goal of this meeting is to foster scientif
 ic interaction between the different groups\, by presenting the excellent 
 research carried out in Catalonia in bioinformatics and genomics\, such as
  advances in our understanding of the genome in humans and other organisms
 \, new technological developments\, healthcare applications and impact of 
 genomic data on evolutionary science\, among other areas.\n\nStructure and
  Program: The symposium will consist of four sessions\, including three ke
 ynote talks from internationally recognized scientists\, David Posada (Uni
 versity of Vigo\, Spain)\, Mihaela Zavolan (University of Basel\, Switzerl
 and)\, and Giorgio Valentini (University of Milan\, Italy)\, and oral pres
 entations selected from the submitted abstracts\, followed by a poster ses
 sion. A strong focus of this symposium are students and postdocs\, so we s
 trongly encourage them to submit and present their work\, and take this ev
 ent as an opportunity to enhance their communication skills\, as well as t
 o widen their perception of nearby activities in bioinformatics and genomi
 cs.
