DESCRIPTION:Research Data Day takes place every year on the second Tuesday
in November. It is a campaign organized across the state of North Rhine-We
stphalia (NRW) dedicated to the topic of research data management (RDM). T
he motto of what will be the 4th Research Data Day in NRW is "Into the dat
a garden: make your research bloom". The state initiative fdm.nrw is organ
izing an online programme (in German) in the morning\, which we will follo
w in the lecture theatre of the Peter Grünberg Institute (PGI). After hav
ing lunch together in the Seecasino\, the local afternoon programme (in En
glish) will begin under the tagline "Successful research networks: growing
together with data" where several parallel mini workshops will take place
 . Here\, the infrastructure projects de.NBI &amp\; de.KCD will host a sh
ort session.\n\nAs researchers navigate the complexities of big data\, the
y often find themselves struggling to manage and analyze large datasets. C
loud computing environments offer a promising solution\, but getting start
ed can be daunting. In this session\, we'll explore how the German Compete
nce Center for Cloud Technologies (de.KCD) supports researchers in harness
ing the power of cloud computing for big data analysis by making use of th
e de.NBI Cloud\, a national research infrastructure that provides scalable
and on-demand access to computational resources and storage. Participants
will be introduced into solutions like SimpleVM to deploy and manage virt
ual machines tailored to their specific research needs. Short hands-on exa
mples and real-world use cases will demonstrate how researchers can levera
ge the de.KCD's expertise and the de.NBI Cloud infrastructure to analyze b
igger data in a cloud environment.
LOCATION:Wilhelm-Johnen-Straße 1\, 1 Wilhelm-Johnen-Straße\n\nThe event w
ill take place in the morning in building 04.8W\, room 365 (lecture theatr
e of PGI-JCNS-TA) and in the afternoon in building 16.4\, room 301 (rotund
 a conference room at JSC).
