DESCRIPTION:[bio.tools](https://bio.tools/) provides easy access to essenti
al scientific and technical information about software\, command-line tool
s\, databases and services. It’s backed by ELIXIR\, the European Infrast
ructure for Biological Information\, and is being used in Australia to reg
 ister software (e.g.[ Galaxy Australia](https://bio.tools/galaxy_australia
)\,[ prokka](https://bio.tools/prokka)). It underpins the information prov
ided in the Australian BioCommons discovery service[ ToolFinder](https://a
 ustralianbiocommons.github.io/2_tools.html).\n\nHans Ienasescu joins us to
explain how bio.tools uses a community driven\, open science model to cre
ate this collection of resources and how it makes it easier to find\, unde
rstand\, utilise and cite them. He’ll delve into how bio.tools is using
standard semantics (e.g. the EDAM ontology) and syntax (e.g. biotoolsSchem
 a) to enrich the annotation and description of tools and resources. Finall
y\, we’ll see how the community can contribute to bio.tools and take adv
antage of its key features to share and promote their own research softwar
