DESCRIPTION:Multi-omics data (eg. transcriptomics\, proteomics) collected f
rom the same set of biospecimens or individuals is a powerful way to under
stand the underlying molecular mechanisms of a biological system. \n\n[mix
 Omics](http://mixomics.org/)\, a popular R package\, integrates omics data
from a wide range of sources into a single\, unified view making it easie
r to explore and reveal interactions between omics layers. It overcomes ma
ny of the challenges of multi-omic data integration arising from data that
are complex and large\, with few samples (&lt\;50) and many molecules (&g
t\;10\,000)\, and generated using different technologies. \n\nProf Kim-Anh
Lê Cao\, head of the mixOmics team\, is delivering this webinar to outli
ne the different methods implemented in mixOmics and how statistical data
integration is defined in this context. She will demonstrate how these app
roaches are applied to analysis of different multi-omics studies and outli
ne the latest methodological developments in this area. From a study of hu
man newborns\, to multi-omics microbiomes\, and multi-omics in single cell
s\, these examples illustrate how mixOmics is used to perform variable sel
ection and identify a signature of omics markers that characterise a speci
fic phenotype or disease status. \n\n**Speaker:** Prof Kim-Anh Lê Cao\, D
irector of Melbourne Integrative Genomics\, School of Mathematics and Stat
 istics\, University of Melbourne.\n\n**Date/Time:** 6 March 2024\, 1-2pm
  AEDT / 12 - 1 pm AEST / 12:30 - 1:30 pm ACDT / 10 - 11 am AWST\n\n**Who t
he webinar is for:**\n\nThis webinar is for life scientists\, bioinformati
cians and anyone with an interest in exploration and integration of multio
mics biological datasets.\n\n**How to join:**\n\nThis webinar is free to j
oin but you must[ register for a place in advance](https://unimelb.zoom.us
