DESCRIPTION:In the previous webinars of the series\, we have explored how t
o identify species and retrieve genomes at a very detailed level\, and del
ved into functional annotation and the protein space. Here\, we will take
a step back and ask ourselves how to have a more general overview of the o
rganisms at play in a microbial community. What does the population look l
ike? Is a microbe of interest present or absent under certain conditions?T
he MGnify amplicon analysis pipeline creates taxonomic profiles of metabar
coding datasets against the most popular rRNA databases like SILVA. This s
ession will provide an overview of how 16S\, 18S. LSU and ITS markers help
profile different microbial groups\,and how MGnify processes amplicon dat
a and presents taxonomic results. Finally\, a guided exploration of a publ
ic MGnify study will show how to use bacterial profiles together with samp
le metadata to infer population changes. This event is part of the webinar
series “Making sense of metagenomics data with MGnify”. You can follow
the link for more information about the series and its webinars.
