 .\n    \n  \n\n\n\nKnowing how to use High Performance Computing (HPC) sys
 tems is crucial for fields such as bioinformatics\, big data analysis\, im
 age processing\, machine learning\, parallel task execution\, and other hi
 gh-throughput applications.\n\nIn this introductory course\, you will lear
 n the fundamentals of HPC\, including what it is and how to effectively ut
 ilise it. We will cover best practices for working with HPC systems\, expl
 ain the roles of "login" and "compute" nodes\, outline the typical filesys
 tem organization on HPC clusters\, and cover job scheduling with the widel
 y-used SLURM scheduler.\n\nThis hands-on workshop is designed to be access
 ible to researchers from various backgrounds\, providing numerous opportun
 ities to practice and apply the skills you acquire.\n\nAs an optional sess
 ion for those interested\, we will also introduce the (free) HPC facilitie
 s available at Cambridge University (the course is not otherwise Cambridge
