DESCRIPTION:Computational workflows are invaluable resources for research c
ommunities. They help us standardise common analyses\, collaborate with o
ther researchers\, and support reproducibility. Bioinformatics workflow de
velopers invest significant time and expertise to create\, share\, and mai
ntain these resources for the benefit of the wider community and being abl
e to easily find and access workflows is an essential factor in their upta
ke by the community.\n\nIncreasingly\, the research community is turning t
o workflow registries to find and access public workflows that can be appl
ied to their research. Workflow registries support workflow findability an
d citation by providing a central repository and allowing users to search
for and discover them easily.\n\nThis workshop will introduce you to workf
low registries and support attendees to register their workflows on the po
pular workflow registry\, WorkflowHub. We’ll kick off the workshop with
an introduction to the concepts underlying workflow findability\, how it c
an benefit workflow developers\, and how you can make the most of workflow
registries to share your computational workflows with the research commun
ity. You will then have the opportunity to register your own workflows in[
WorkflowHub](https://workflowhub.eu/) with support from our trainers. \n\
 n**Trainers**\n\nDr Johan Gustafsson\, Bioinformatics Engagement Officer\,
  Australian BioCommons\n\nDr Georgina Samaha\, Senior Bioinformatician\, S
 ydney Informatics Hub\, University of Sydney\n\n**Date / time**\n\nTuesday
  21 March 2023\, 3-5pm AEDT/ 2-4pm AEST / 2:30-4:30pm ACST / 12-2pm AWST\n
\n**Format**\n\nThis interactive online workshop includes:\n\n* An introdu
ction to the workflow registry[ WorkflowHub](https://workflowhub.eu/) and
live demo of workflow registration\n* An optional bring-your-own-workflow
session\, where you can get assistance registering your own workflow(s)\n*
Opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback on the WorkflowHub pl
atform\n\nExpert trainers will be available to provide support during the
workshop.\n\n**Learning outcomes**\n\nBy the end of the workshop you shoul
d be able to:\n\n* Register with WorkflowHub\n* Create and join teams and
spaces on WorkflowHub\n* Register workflows manually\n* Register workflows
by importing from a GitHub repository\n* Maintain your workflows\n* Under
stand the workflow metadata that is most useful to maintain\n* Create a wo
rkflow DOI\n* Cite workflows\n\n**Who the workshop is for**\n\nThe worksho
p is designed for anyone who is creating workflows\, either via platforms
like Galaxy Australia\, or via the command line. Some knowledge of GitHub
will be beneficial\, but is not critical.\n\n**How to apply**\n\nThis work
shop is free but participation is subject to application with selection.\n
 \n**[Apply here](https://findable-workflows.eventbrite.com.au/)**\n\nAppli
cations close at 11:59pm AEST\, Sunday 19 March 2023.\n\nApplications will
be reviewed by the organising committee and all applicants will be inform
ed of the status of their application (successful\, waiting list\, unsucce
ssful). More information on the selection process is provided in our[ advi
ce on applying for Australian BioCommons workshops](https://www.biocommons
 .org.au/workshop-applications).\n\nSuccessful applicants will be provided
with a Zoom meeting link closer to the date.\n\n_This event is part of a s
 eries of[ bioinformatics training events](https://www.biocommons.org.au/ev
ents). If you'd like to hear when registrations open for other events\, pl
 ease[ subscribe](https://www.biocommons.org.au/subscribe) to Australian Bi
