DESCRIPTION:Outgrown your laptop? Learn how to take your bioinformatics pip
elines to the next level by scaling them on Australia’s national high pe
rformance computing (HPC) clusters.\n\nIn collaboration with the National
Computational Infrastructure (NCI) and the Pawsey Supercomputing Research
Centre\, this hands-on workshop will equip you with the practical skills t
o run and optimise efficient Nextflow workflows on HPC systems.\n\nAttende
es will be guided through a series of hands-on exercises to configure nf-c
ore workflows on NCI Gadi (PBS) and Pawsey Setonix (SLURM)\, and will iter
atively develop a bioinformatics workflow to process larger files\, and mo
re samples.\n\n**Lead Trainers**:\n- *Dr Michael Geaghan*\, Senior Bioinfo
rmatician (Australian BioCommons)\, Sydney Informatics Hub (SIH)\, Univers
ity of Sydney\n- *Fred Jaya*\, Senior Bioinformatician (Australian BioComm
ons)\, Sydney Informatics Hub (SIH)\, University of Sydney\n\n**Date/Time*
 *: 1\n8-19 November 2025\, 1 - 4 pm AEDT /12:30 - 3:30 pm ACDT / 11 - 2 pm
AWST \n\n**Format**:\nThis online workshop will take place over two sessi
ons of three hours each. You must attend both sessions in order to get the
most out of the workshop. Expert trainers will introduce new topics and g
uide you through hands-on activities to help you put your new skills into
action.\n\n**Who the workshop is for**\n\nThis workshop is for Australian
researchers and technical users (bioinformaticians\, life scientists\, and
data scientists) who:\n\n- Have access to HPC systems (e.g.\, institution
al\, national\, or cloud-based clusters)\n- Have run simple Nextflow pipel
ines\, typically in a one-sample-per-run or manual scripting context\n- Ar
e now looking to scale up their workflows\, optimise performance\, and app
ly best practices for HPC environments\n\nYou must be associated with an A
ustralian organisation for your application to be considered. Please note
that participants will be supported with access to Gadi and Setonix comput
ing resources for the duration of this workshop. \n\n**[Apply here](https:
 //www.eventbrite.com.au/e/nextflow-on-hpc-tickets-1698529981899?aff=oddtdt
creator)**\n\nThis workshop is free but participation is subject to applic
ation with selection. \n\nApplications close at **11:59 pm AEDT\, Monday 3
November 2025**.\n\nApplications will be reviewed by the organising commi
ttee and all applicants will be informed of the status of their applicatio
 n (successful\, waiting list\, unsuccessful). Successful applicants will b
e provided with a Zoom meeting link closer to the date. More information o
n the selection process is provided in our [Advice on applying for Austral
 ian BioCommons workshops](https://www.biocommons.org.au/workshop-applicati
ons).\n\nThis workshop is presented by [Australian BioCommons](https://www
.biocommons.org.au/) with the assistance of a network of facilitators from
  the [National Bioinformatics Training Cooperative](https://www.biocommons
.org.au/training-cooperative). It is underpinned by computational resource
s provided by NCI and Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre.\n\nThis event
is part of a series of [bioinformatics training events](https://www.bioco
mmons.org.au/webinars-workshops). If you'd like to hear when registrations
open for other events\, please subscribe to the [Australian BioCommons ne
 wsletter](https://www.biocommons.org.au/subscribe).
