This webinar series is organised by two Horizon Europe research & innovation projects dedicated to exploring and harnessing marine microbiomes for a sustainable blue bioeconomy. The focus of the BlueRemediomics project is on biogenics, aquaculture, and ecosystem services, whereas the Bluetools project focuses on thermostable protein production, searching for novel marine compounds, and developing potential antibiotic and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) treatments.

We acknowledge that the blue economy is very dynamic and that specific tools used in biodiscovery evolve rapidly and quickly become outdated. The objective of this webinar series is therefore to provide training in the general approaches and basic functionalities behind existing tools and practices rather than in-depth tutorials on specific tools. The format of the webinars is designed to encourage discussion around the topic and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities.

The series consists of seven weekly webinars scheduled at 11:00 am UK time (12h CEST/CET) every Friday from 2 October – 13 November. Each webinar will cover a specific area of relevance to marine microbiome bioinformatics, with 3-4 experts giving short 15 min presentations and participating in a 30 min Q&A session. All webinars will be recorded and made available as BlueRemediomics & BlueTools training materials.
