Ensembl for educators – training in the transition to the new Ensembl genome browser

Ensembl provides genome data and annotation via a free web browser. Using genome browsers such as Ensembl is a core part of genomics modules. Those working in genomics use this service to look up key information about genetic features such as genes, transcripts and proteins. Ensembl also provides a number of tools and analyses such as the Ensembl Variant Effect Predictor (VEP) and comparative genomics data comparing genomes across species. In this webinar, we will present a new resource from the Ensembl Outreach team: Ensembl for Educators. This provides materials and slides for delivering a training session on the Ensembl browser. It provides advice for preparation of the session and the schedule. As Ensembl is transitioning to a new interface and site in 2026, this resource also provides advice for which Ensembl version to train on depending on your audience needs. This event is part of the 3-part webinar series Ensembl transition webinars: New genomes, access methods, and educational resources from Ensembl. You can follow the link for more information about the series and its webinars.
