UniProt is a high quality, comprehensive protein resource. Next to expert curation, one of the core activities at UniProt is to develop computational methods for the functional annotation of protein sequences. In this webinar we will introduce two rule-based annotation systems, UniRule and the Statistical Automatic Annotation System (SAAS), and explain how they complement each other to automatically annotate the unreviewed records in the UniProt Knowledgebase (UniProtKB/TrEMBL) with a high coverage and a high degree of accuracy. We will also give you an early peek at the formats and systems we plan to make available to enable researchers to annotate their own protein sequences.
