EMBL-EBI data resources provide access to a wide range of biological data that can support research in infection biology. This webinar will illustrate how different types of protein functional and structural data can be accessed and connected across four EMBL-EBI resources: UniProt, the Electron Microscopy Data Bank (EMDB), the Protein Data Bank in Europe (PDBe), and the AlphaFold Protein Structure Database (AFDB).

Using influenza haemagglutinin as a case study, we will explore its protein sequence and functional annotation in UniProt, cryo-EM 3D maps in EMDB, and experimental and predicted protein structures in PDBe and AFDB. We will demonstrate how to access, browse, and retrieve these data, as well as explore the cross-links available across the resources.

We will conclude by considering the broader role of open biological data resources in infection research and pandemic preparedness.
