Infectious diseases are shaped by a complex interplay between pathogens and their hosts: molecular interactions drive infection, immune recognition and disease progression. Understanding the structural mechanisms underlying these processes is essential for deciphering host–pathogen interactions and identifying opportunities for therapeutic intervention.

In this webinar series, we will explore how recent advances in structural biology and associated computational methods are improving our ability to investigate the mechanisms of infection and translate the resulting insights into biomedical applications. We will also consider how artificial intelligence (AI) is being applied in infection biology, together with the opportunities and challenges associated with its use. The series will conclude by introducing freely accessible EMBL-EBI data resources that can support researchers working in this field.
